The Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) hosted the third Riyadh International Marathon on February 10, 2024.
Here are some photos of the 20,000 participants who enjoyed themselves despite the rain.
There were four categories in the race, with different eligibility and distances in each category:
42 KM Marathon: Open to participants aged 20 or older
21 KM Half-marathon: Open to participants aged 18 or older
10 KM Race: Open to participants aged 17 or older
4 KM Family Fun Run: Open for all ages
Winners
Kenyan Kegen Kirwa won first place in the men's professional category for a 242-kilometer race.
Ethiopian Telehun Gashaho and Moroccan Algoz Anwar took second and third place, respectively.
The winners received medals and prizes worth over SAR 700,000 for their achievements and participation in the marathon.
This race edition featured over 20,000 male and female participants from 125 countries.
In the 2024 marathon, 64% of the participants were males, and 36% were females. Among them, 600 individuals participated in the full marathon, 3,000 in the half marathon, almost 8,000 in the 10-kilometer race, and 8,400 people participated in the 4-kilometer race.
This year, the marathon witnessed a significant increase in participants, recording more than 33% growth compared to last year.
